Events and Rules

Event 1: Stone Press

Reps in 90s; choice of stones; any press at a higher weight trumps any number of presses at a lower weight

Men: 81kg, 95kg, or 106kg 
Women: 55kg, 63kg, or 70kg

Event 2: Walking Stones Duckwalk Medley

Duckwalk the heavier stone 10m, run back and duckwalk the 2nd stone 10m, then walk both stones back together 10m. Timed (2 min time limit)

Men: 140kg & 112kg
Women: 84kg & 66kg

Event 3: Ringed Stone Front Hold

Max time 

Men: 18kg
Women: 12kg

Event 4: Mathews stones

2 stone blocks attached by 2.5 chain to be lifted over a 15m course one stone at a time. No dragging permitted.

Men: 120kg / 100kg 
Women: 67kg / 66kg

Event 5: Mark Sherriffs Scottish Stones of Strength to Barrels

Super slick tackyless atlas stones. Only chalk allowed: no tacky, tacky towels, tacky sleeves, or grip tops. Timed.

9 stones in ascending weight 30kg to 140kg

 

Note: the top 3 female and male Scottish* finishers in Scotlands will be invited to compete at Britain's Strongest Stonelifter. Any entrants that are not Scottish will be unable to progress to Britain's.

* Scottish here defined as: born in Scotland, live in Scotland, or be of Scottish parentage.

Which class should I enter?
  • 1st Timers means just that - you've never participated in a stonelifting competition before: you may have competed in a beginners strongman or strongwoman competition, just not McGregor games
  • Beginners means no podium at any competition before
  • Novice means you can have competed before, but absolutely no podium finishes in novice or above - no age limitations
  • Open is for anyone who has podiumed in a novice stone competition, however, any 1st timer, beginner, or novice can opt in to compete in Open (no age limit)
  • Masters has a lower age limit of 40 on the day of the competition

General rules and information
  • Kilts must be worn
  • Competition tees are provided and must be worn for all events
  • Strictly no tacky, tacky towels, stone sleeves with tacky, etc. Chalk only
