About the fundraiser

Jamie is raising money to help restore the damaged 4,000 year old Pudrac Plinth which has been badly cracked. Any remaining funds will be put towards putting the broken Wallace Putting Stone back together, and hopefully sourcing a new suitable stone from a quarry as a replacement plinth stone for the Puterach and Monachyle stones.

For all non-stonelifters, the plinth and lifting stones are ancient pieces of Scottish cultural strength history which we are desperately trying to protect.

Please contribute all you can to help save these ancient stones.

Stone Update Sept 2025

Notes from David:

I think the repair went well. I am slightly concerned about the horses using it as a scratching post.

It probably has to be able to withstand this with it being in a horse paddock but a fence round the stone would be a good idea.

The paroloid mix is normally brown, we amhave diversified and went for the whin dust to create the lighter grey that will weather well and become almost invisible over time.

It's fresh just now but when the moss/fungal grows back over and the stone gets some weather it will weather in very well.

I am going to come back up in a week or two to check the repairs are coping well after some rain.

Lindsay Nigel and Ashley have been a bit worried due to a couple of things that have been said and suggested so here are their wishes going forward.

Firstly (Jamie speaking not them) you have to remember this is their land and the field that the stones are in is home to Paladin and Zambeze their horses. So with that in mind, their wishes MUST be adhered to.

In the first instance if you want to lift the stones you need to knock and ask permission. In the unlikely event that there is no one in you will need to come back and lift at another time. However, this can be avoided if you are coming from a distance by messaging them @puidracstone on the day before. For example if they are going out they will move the horse to the bottom field so you can still lift on the planned day.

Also they reserve the right to deny access if they feel it's dangerous ie ice and wind etc, also if there is any terrible behaviour like last year's visit.

Lastly: under no circumstances is it acceptable to just park in their driveway and head down without permission

On a personal note I'd like to say what they are doing by taking on the role of protectors of yet another damaged stone The Wallace Stone Is absolutely fantastic and we should all be honoured to have them on board so that the stone can be reborn and lifted again if possible.

Thank you everyone
Jamie.
