November Stone Tour - 999 Reset

November Stone Tour - 999 Reset

Jamie has teamed up with the charity @999_reset to take some of their members on a stone tour to show them our cultural strength history. Head over to www.999reset.org to see just what they do. A wonderful charity helping our emergency service personnel recover from traumatic and stressful events by providing different activities and days out.

Jamie is also looking for a couple of seasoned lifters to help and show proper lifting tech on the day. Dm Jamie if you fancy it.

The route plan will look something like this:

  • Meet near Stirling around 08.30
  • Drive to Sherriffmuir stones 55kg, 73kg, 95kg, 120kg, 130kg, 163kg
  • Then to Sma' Glen near Creiff to lift the Sadlin' mMre 97kg onto its plinth.
  • Then a stop at The Aberfeldy stones 23kg to 140kg
  • Then drive to Scotland's oldest testing stone, The Fianna, which is over 800 years old at least for a lift there 127kg (there is another lighter stone there too) then a 15-minute drive to
  • Meggernie Estate stones 50kg, 80kg, 109kg, 130kg
  • A beautiful spot for a cold water dip which Jamie will be doing and everyone is welcome to join.
  • Then an hour's drive to Ballquidder Glen to lift the Puterach 94kg and Monachyle stones 118kg.

Jamie will be talking about the history of each location and the history involved in the lifting and will also be teaching people how to lift as on every tour. People hear Stonelifting and think it's only about seeing how strong you are well it's more about learning about your ancestral culture and strength history and honouring those who came before us with a wee lift.

Dm Jamie to book a spot.

What should I bring?

Kilt, walking boots, appropriate layers: check the weather forecast for the area! Depending on how remote we're going you might also want to bring food and plenty of fluids.

Don't forget your phone and/or camera!

What should I expect?

A superb trip - one you won't forget. We'll visit the stone locations and everyone will have a chance to lift each stone at least a couple of times.

What if I have questions, or can't make it?

Contact the organiser in the first instance.
