Mons Meg Cannon Ball

There were I think 4 originally found in the beck just outside the village. One sat outside the old pub. And 2 went into private ownership I believe.

Another source reckons they were found in Leet Water during drainage works behind the village.

6 were found in the river in 1865. They were separated and one went to the inn another to the reverend (so assume church) another to Milne Garden, one to Duns Castle. One possibly sent back to Edinburgh.

Done a lot of work on church, the minister told me the story behind the Mons Meg cannonballs there is another in the village, they were gifted to the village as a thank you from King James IV for locals when carriage carrying Mons Meg lost a Wheel in a burn behind Kirk, she was on her way to Flodden Field.

Stone is 153kg in the Kirk Yard at Swinton in Scottish Borders.
