Reverend James Leslie often came to the church to see the parish members outside putting the stone who were members of Clan Mackintosh of Moy and Clan Chattan. The Reverend beckoned them in for service but they would not; he was challenged by the parish members to throw the putting stone.
He obliged and threw it further than anyone else bringing the parish members inside to carry out the service.
The Putting stone was regularly thrown by Archibald Mackintosh the Clan chief at the time.
The stone was moved to Moy Hall for safe keeping.
